Faith RXD Inspires at the Games

By CHAD BONHAM

In one of its first major outreach opportunities since merging with SportsLife Leadership earlier this year, Faith RXD had a significant presence at the CrossFit® Games in Albany, New York, August 1-3.

Led by Chief Sports Officer Carl Perry and Chief Leadership Officer Jimmy Page, Faith RXD’s team also included four chapter leaders (gym owners or coaches who have been involved with the ministry) who manned a booth in the vendor village, prayed with and encouraged an estimated 1,000 attendees, and handed out True Competitor devotional books.

“The Lord gave us great favor and we were able to build relationships with some incredible influencers in the sport of CrossFit®,” Perry said.

“We also had over 200 people sign up for our monthly communications where we share what God is doing through Faith RXD and provide training and resources for their spiritual growth.”

The CrossFit® Games feature the top 30 men and top 30 women who are competing to be named the fittest athletes in the world. In what Page called “one of the most electric competitive environments” he’s ever experienced, Faith RXD was able to meet with many of the people within the sport that will be able to help move the ministry forward.

“The CrossFit® community is probably the tightest knit community of all sports,” Page added. “There was overwhelming interest in Faith RXD and the spiritual side of competitive sports and life. The hunger for Christ in this sport is obvious and profound.”

Faith RXD also explored opportunities for synergy with other ministries in the space including Mayhem Missions and Get Strong, and met with key CrossFit® influencers such as Jake Rozema, a former Ohio State wrestler currently ranked 18th in the world.

One of the unique opportunities for Perry and his wife Jamie was a training session where Jake Lockhart of Mayhem Missions shared a 15-minute devotional on Ephesians 2 and prayed over the athletes in attendance (including seven-time Champion Rich Froning) before proceeding with a vigorous CrossFit® workout.

“It was amazing to see 50 people from the CrossFit® community come together to hear God’s Word and then workout and fellowship together,” Perry said.

Some fun moments for Page revolved around a t-shirt that the Faith RXD team members wore based on Luke 9:23-24: “Crush Comfort. Carry The Cross.”

“People would point from across the room, come over and say, ‘What does that shirt mean?’” Page said. “I would explain it to them and they would show me their Christian tattoos or we’d have these great faith conversations. There were other people who were just curious and that opened the door to share scriptures and some encouragement and get them interested in what we’re doing with Faith RXD.”

According to Page, the ministry benefited from being in an environment that was conducive to one-on-one conversations about real life.

“Our volunteers were the real heroes,” – Jimmy Page

“They had many powerful moments at the booth where they were able to pray for some very specific needs. It was important for us to meet people where they were at in their spiritual walk and encourage them in any way possible.”

Moving forward, Faith RXD has been invited to attend the Age-Group CrossFit® Games in Columbus, Ohio (August 21-24) as well as the 2026 Adaptive CrossFit® Games where the ministry will be able to supply branded gear and resources for the bags given out to all participants.

“Being at the CrossFit® Games helped us affirm where God currently has us in this space,” Perry said. “We can clearly see the opportunity for insane impact for the Kingdom of God. We’re excited about taking that next step.”
